COVID-19 Concerns Cancel CFSB Watermelon Bust

(Benton, KY)-While the world continues to fight the Coronavirus pandemic, CFSB has made the decision to cancel the 46th Annual Watermelon Bust. The event was scheduled for Saturday, August 1 at the Kenneth Shadowen Performing Arts Center at Marshall County High School. CFSB’s Vice President, Director of Communications Jeremy Rose said that the decision was not an easy one. “We really agonized over this. We were looking forward to bringing a fun evening to our community, but with so much uncertainty surrounding this illness, from general health concerns to still unknown August capacity restrictions, we did not want to take any unnecessary risks.”

CFSB President Jason Jones said that monies normally reserved for the production of the Watermelon Bust will be donated to area hospitals, health departments and small business relief organizations in all of the markets that CFSB serves. “We will assist our medical community in building their supplies back up following this initial round of the virus. Assisting our local businesses is a priority, as well. They are the backbone of our local economy and supply jobs to our workforce. CFSB will also purchase watermelons for area food banks that have been hit hard during this time. Our team is proud to keep the Watermelon Bust spirit alive.”
