Elena Blevins, the director of the Kentucky Lake Tourism and Convention Center, joined WCBL’s Chris Freeland recently on Coffee Call. Blevins says she is encouraged that the Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be a very busy weekend in the lakes area with very few lodging vacancies open at this time. She believes the lakes area will be a popular destination for many people not only locally but from outside the area as well. And tourism has a huge economic impact on the area and lodging and boat rentals are almost full for the Memorial Day weekend as well. And with fishing tournaments resuming June 1, the future for the lakes area looks bright.
