Conner scores 1,000th career point in win over Hopkinsville

Cayson Conner became the 21st member of the Lady Marshals 1,000 point club with her 15-point game in Tuesday’s win over Hopkinsville.

Cayson Conner needed just two points to reach her career 1,000th point in the Lady Marshals home game Tuesday against Hopkinsville. Conner led the Lady Marshals with 15 points in the 60-36 win and became the 21st in program history to achieve the milestone. Just a junior, Conner will rapidly move up that list until her final game wearing the orange and blue next year.

A 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter for the Lady Marshals ballooned to a 41-16 lead at halftime, led in the second quarter by Halle Langhi with eight points. The 25-point lead held through the second half on the way to picking up their 20th win of the season.

Eight players found their way to the scoring column, led by four in double figures. Behind Conner’s 15 points, Langhi and Presley Jezik had 12 points each and Layne Pea added 11.

The Lady Marshals will play the winner of Tuesday’s Calloway County/Murray game in the District Championship on Thursday at 6:00. The District Tournament will be played at Marshall County.
