Marshall County students to be honored at Berea College

Marshall County juniors Joshua Mouser and Brianna Ferguson received Legacy Scholar awards from Berea College and will be honored at a banquet on March 28th. 

Two Marshall County High School Juniors will be honored by Berea College as Carter G. Woodson Legacy Scholars for accomplishments in the areas of academics, service and leadership.

MCHS Juniors Joshua Mouser and Brianna Ferguson were selected as recipients to receive the Legacy Scholar Award. They will be awarded an $8,000 Dr. Carter G. Woodson Legacy Scholar Tuition Scholarship and the No-Tuition Promise, which guarantees no admitted student pays tuition.

The Legacy Scholar Award honors the late Dr. Carter G. Woodson, an esteemed alumnus of Berea. A respected historian, Woodson is known worldwide as “The Father of Black History. The Carter G. Woodson Legacy Scholar Award is named in his honor as a means of recognizing African-American high school juniors who have demonstrated character, academic achievement and leadership — as exemplified in the life of Dr. Woodson and the legacy of Berea College.

These students will be recognized and receive the scholarship, awarded at a banquet on Berea College Campus on March 28th, 2020.
