KSP Arrest Paducah Male After Multi-County Pursuit

Eddyville, KY. (February 16, 2020) – At approximately 9:20 this morning while on patrol in Lyon County, Trooper Nathaniel Day observed a blue 2020 Hyundai Elantra traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 24. Trooper Day activated his emergency equipment, but the operator failed to stop and continued traveling toward the Eddyville city limits. Due to high traffic at this time of day, Trooper Day took precautionary measures and terminated the pursuit. A short time later, a Lyon County Sheriff’s deputy observed the suspect vehicle and began to pursue. Trooper Day rejoined the pursuit as the vehicle exited Interstate 69 onto Interstate 24 and traveled westbound. The pursuit continued on Interstate 24 into Marshall County. Kentucky State Police notified Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and deputies staged at the 25 mile marker with tire deflation devices. The suspect vehicle struck the spike strips and after traveling a short distance, the vehicle came to a stop at which point the operator fled on foot. After a short foot chase, the operator, identified as Damontez D. Brown, 28, of Paducah was taken into custody.

Brown was charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree – Police Officer, Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot), Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Resisting Arrest, Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, and several other traffic violations. Brown was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Trooper Nathaniel Day is continuing the investigation. Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
