Christian Fellowship senior, Edie Little, signed on Friday to continue her softball career at Brescia University. Little will join the Lady Bearcats this fall under Head Coach Traci Smith who is in her 14th season at Brescia.

Little enrolled in CFS as an eighth grader and will play her fifth season this spring for the Lady Eagles under Head Coach Trevor Jackson. Jackson said at Little’s signing that at first she wasn’t sure if CFS was the right fit for her and he told her she was there for a bigger and higher purpose.

Jackson said as a coach, it is special to watch her grow in her faith saying, “She knows she belongs to the Lord and exemplifies that to her teammates and classmates”.

When Little joined the team in the eighth grade, Jackson said their current catcher had suffered a concussion so she stepped into the catcher position and that first game was 4/4 at the plate. Mostly behind the plate as catcher for the Lady Eagles, Little has played six other positions on the team.

She has played in 92 of 98 games over her career at CFS with a .504 career batting average heading into her senior season. In 328 plate appearances, she has only struck out nine times, all in her eighth and ninth grade seasons and has not struck out since. Of her 128 hits over the last four seasons, she has 96 singles, 24 doubles, eight triples and has 93 RBIs.

Little said she liked how welcoming the coaches were at Brescia and that playing time was based on a players ability and how hard they work and not on how many years they’ve been on the team, adding, “That meant a lot to me because I’ve always been a hard worker.”

Brescia, located in Owensboro, Ky., is an NAIA school competing in the River State Conference.
