PADUCAH, Ky. (October 29, 2019) — A contractor for P&L Railroad plans an extended closure of KY 994/Old Mayfield Road in southern McCracken County starting Monday, November 4, 2019.
KY 994/Old Mayfield Road will be closed at mile point 2.1 to allow rail crossing upgrades. This extended closure is along KY 994/Old Mayfield Road just north of the Fremont Community between KY 348 and the KY 1288/Lebanon Church Road intersection.
KY 994/Old Mayfield Road is expected to close at 7 a.m., local time, on Monday and remain closed at this site until sometime on the afternoon of Friday, November 8.
There will be a marked detour via KY 348, KY 1014/Houser Road, and KY 1288/Lebanon Church Road.
Approximately 1,400 vehicles travel this section of KY 994/Old Mayfield Road in an average day.
The contractor for P&L Railroad will attempt to provide timely notice if work is completed ahead of schedule.
This closure for rail crossing work is near the site of a recent closure for construction of a new bridge over Bottom Ditch. The railroad work had to be delayed until completion of the new bridge to avoid blocking access to homes and property located between the two worksites.
