Coming into the game, the Marshals were 2-6 following a hard-fought loss last Friday to Apollo, 35-28. Harrison County came in with a 3-5 record, losing the previous Friday to Holmes 8-7.

The Marshals punted on their next possession, held Harrison County and took over on downs, but struggled to go the 39 yards into the end zone. They turned it back over on downs to the Thorobreds at their 24 yard line and a 23-yard gain by Lewis ended the first quarter, going on to score on a 39 yard run by quarterback Tyler Hudgins for a 16-0 lead following a successful two-point conversion.

Harrison County turned the ball over on downs on their next possession giving the Marshals the ball at their own 21 yard line, but they would commit their third turnover in the game, the Thorobreds taking over at the Marshall County 37 yard line.
