Due to a scheduling issue, the U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge maintenance and deck cleaning project originally expected to start on Wednesday, October 23, has been delayed to Monday, Oct 28.
PADUCAH, Ky. (Oct 21, 2019) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans daytime work zone lane restrictions along the U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter starting Wednesday, October 23, 2019.
These daytime work zone lane restrictions are to allow the KYTC Livingston County Highway Maintenance Crew and the District 1 Bridge Crew to clean drains and perform maintenance along the bridge deck to get it prepared for winter weather.
These work zone lane restrictions are expected to be active during daylight hours for about 2 to 3 days, weather permitting.
The crew will work along the westbound lanes starting on Wednesday, then move to the eastbound lanes as work progresses.
Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic during daylight hours. The work zone lane configuration may change from time to time to facilitate the work.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic.
The U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge is at U.S. 60 McCracken County mile point 20.45, just east of the U.S. 60 intersection with U.S. 62. The bridge is at U.S. 60 Livingston County mile point 0.0.
The U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge opened to traffic on July 31, 2013. Also known as The Ledbetter Bridge and the William Clark Memorial Bridge, the 3,690 ft structure carries approximately 7,400 vehicles per day between McCracken County, KY, and Livingston County, KY.
The 1800 ft warren truss with no verticles is believed to be the longest single through truss span in the world. At 900 ft, it has the 8th longest main span in the world.
