Marshall, CFS begin District Tournament play

Marshall County and Christian Fellowship volleyball teams wrapped up their regular seasons with wins. CFS played two games Saturday, winning both over Caldwell County and Warren East while Marshall County finished off the regular season on Thursday with a win over CCA.

The Lady Eagles beat Caldwell County 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-22). Stat leaders in the win were Abigail Cima with 17 kills and six digs, Emma Fletcher had nine kills, Emma Alexander had 25 assists and Maggie Wagner six digs.

CFS defeated Warren East 3-1 (27-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22). State leaders were Cima with 25 kills, five blocks and six digs, Alexander had 36 assists, Fletcher six digs and Lillian Burnett had four aces.

The Lady Marshals beat CCA 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-18) following a 2-1 (16-21, 21-12, 16-14) Freshman team win and 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 10-15) JV loss. The Freshman team finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record. Stat leaders in the win over CCA – Halle Langhi 22 kills and 10 digs, Jessica Hicks 19 digs and 11 kills, Peyton Gresham 14 assists, Clara Bradley 20 assists, McKenzie Elkins 31 digs, Alyssa McClain four aces and four blocks.

Christian Fellowship hosts the Fourth District Tournament which starts tonight (Monday, Oct. 21). CFS plays Murray at 6:00 followed by Marshall County and Calloway County at 7:30. The championship will be played Tuesday at 6:00.
