Marshals, Lady Marshals celebrate Senior Night

It was Senior Night at Colburn Stadium and the final home game on Tuesday as the Lady Marshals and Marshals celebrated their 17 seniors. The Marshals took the field first and won 2-0 followed by the Lady Marshals 10-0 shutout over Mayfield.

Two seniors scored for the Marshals, the first goal coming on a penalty kick by Sean Janiec in the first half and the second goal in the second half, also coming on a penalty kick by Bryson Penn. Ben Burkeen had three saves for the Marshals and earned the shutout. Mayfield goalkeeper Diego Juarez had a busy night in the net with 22 saves.

The Lady Marshals picked up their 11th shutout of the season in their 10-0 win Tuesday. Carmen Gunn had four of the 10 goals, Loralei Samson scored two and one each came from Chasse Clark, Hope Howard, Kallen Fuller and Kelsey Crass. Assists went to Samson (3), Gunn, Hanna Holsapple, Howard and Emma Smith (2).

Up next is a double-header at Calloway County on Thursday. One of the Lady Marshals two losses this season came from the Lady Lakers and this game will decide the district tournament number one seed. A win for the Marshals would wrap up an undefeated record in district play.
