Closure on KY 139 & KY 293 Princeton Truck Bypass/Seminary Street starting Sunday, Sept. 15

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 9, 2019) — A contractor for P&L Railroad plans rail crossing work on The KY 139 & KY 293 Truck Bypass/Seminary Street in Princeton starting Sunday, September 15, 2019.

This crossing on the KY 139 & KY 293 Truck Bypass/Seminary Street in Princeton is between Depot Street and Vine Street about 4 blocks south of the U.S. 62/Main Street intersection.

This section of Seminary Street along the KY 139/KY 239 Princeton Truck Bypass is used to route trucks around two low railroad overpasses along KY 139 and KY 293/South Jefferson Street and KY 2080/Cadiz Street.  It provides the only rail crossing for these routes in Princeton without a load height restriction.

The KY 139 & KY 293 Truck Bypass/Seminary Street  is expected to close at this site around 7 a.m., CDT, on Sunday, September 15.  The closure for rail crossing upgrades is expected to be in place for about three days.

There will be a marked detour.

The contractor, P&L Railroad, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely updates as work progresses at this location.

P&L Railroad also plans rail crossing upgrades at other locations around the region in coming weeks.  While the dates are still tentative, motorists and businesses should be prepared for planned state highway closures at the following locations and times:

  • KY 726/Kelly Road in western McCracken County to close starting about September 23, just south of the KY 725/Woodville Road intersection
  • KY 996/Metropolis Lake Road in western McCracken County to close starting about September 30, just south of the Heath community

A marked detour will be provided for each of these planned closures for rail crossing upgrades.

The contractor for P&L Railroad will attempt to provide timely updates as this tentative portion of this work schedule firms up.
