UPDATE:  KY 126/Cobb Rd near Cerulean in Trigg County closed due to sinkhole

KYTC personnel have filled the sinkhole with gravel and capped it with asphalt.  Engineers will continue to carefully monitor this site in case the sinkhole redevelops.

PADUCAH, Ky. (Aug. 28, 2019) –  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Trigg County Highway Maintenance Crew has closed a section of KY 126/Cobb Road due to a sinkhole near the Cerulean community in Trigg County.

Over the last several days maintenance personnel had patched a pothole along KY 126 between the 1 and 2 mile marker northwest of Cerulean.  After each round of patching the pothole would reappear in a few days.  As the crew checked the site this morning they found a hole slightly smaller than a soccer ball that appeared to lead into a sinkhole.

KY 126/Cobb Road is closed at this site while engineers evaluate the sinkhole and develop a plan to fill it.

The roadway could be closed for one or two days.

There will be no marked detour.  However, motorists may self-detour via KY 128/Wallonia Road and KY 124/Cerulean Road.

KYTC engineers will attempt to provide timely updates on the repair effort.
