The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Ballard County Highway Maintenance Crew has a work zone along US 51 near the 6 mile marker in Ballard County. This work zone with one lane traffic is along the US 51 levee about 1 mile south of the US 51 Ohio River “Cairo” Bridge.
The crew is working on shoulder repairs along the levee.
Motorists should be prepared to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
This work zone is expected to remain up until about 4:00 p.m., today.
Approximately 4,700 vehicles travel this section of US 51 between Wickliffe, KY, and Cairo, IL, in an average day.
