Collision involving four semi-tractor trailers closes Interstate 24

On 06-25-2019 at approximately 9:40 A.M., the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to Interstate 24, near the 16 MM, regarding a collision involving four (4) semi-tractor trailers and two passenger vehicles.

The investigation revealed a FedEx Ground semi-tractor trailer, being operated by Michael Arnold, 57 years old of Decatur, Georgia was traveling westbound on Interstate 24. Arnold came upon slowed traffic in the right lane at the 15.5 MM due to roadway maintenance.

Arnold collided with another semi-tractor trailer which started a chain reaction collision, involving two other semi-tractor trailers and two passenger vehicles. All involved parties were not injured in the collision.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional Ambulance, McCracken County Department of Emergency Services, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Stinnett’s Towing and Jason’s Collision Center.

Westbound traffic on Interstate 24 from the 16 MM is still closed to vehicular traffic at this time. A supplemental press release will be issued when normal traffic flow resumes.
