Daughters of the American Revolution-Clarks River Chapter Memorial Day Display

Traditionally, on Memorial Day (U.S.), people visit cemeteries and memorials, and volunteers often place American flags on each grave site at national cemeteries. On May 27th at 11am there was a Memorial Day celebration at Mike Miller Park in Benton, Ky. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1084 created the celebration to honor those for have sacrificed their lives for our country. There was a wreath laying ceremony as well as a 21 gun salute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while defending this great country. The Daughters of the American Revolution-Clarks River Chapter provided water to the attendees of the Memorial Day ceremony. One of the Chapter members Carolyn Pace provided a display of photographs and letters to and from her cousin George Allen Tucker during his service in World War II. George Allen Tucker of Hardin who was killed at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. May we never forget the sacrifice of George Allen Tucker and the other brave men and women who gave their life in defense of our country.
