Ricky Wayne Carmack, 59, of Benton, KY, passed away on June 3, 2019 at his home at 2:45 AM.
He was born on August 20, 1959 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Grady Carmack and Ava Sue (Phillips) Carmack. In 1987, he was employed by General Tire in Mayfield, KY working alongside his father, until the plant closed. He then went on to work as a truck driver for Pilgrim’s Pride until his illness. He continued his love of raising cattle and horses, working alongside his father and son on the farm where he was raised as a child. He was happiest on the sidelines of his children’s sporting events or spending Sunday afternoons on the lake.
He is survived by his long-time partner, Virginia Hope Jones, and his mother Ava Sue (Phillips) Carmack, both of Benton, KY. His children, Brian Carmack (Amber) of Benton, KY, Kristy Griffith (Parker) of Murray, KY, Karen Carmack of Benton, KY, a step-daughter, Katy Jones of Lexington, KY, and his siblings, Vickie Travis (David) of Murray, KY, and Terry Carmack of Louisville, KY. In addition, his Grandson, Jase Carmack and two granddaughters, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Carmack, and his grandparents, Freamon and Ortha Collins and Emmett and Mabel Phillips.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025, Rev. Kim Morrison and Rev. Greg Waldrop officiating.
His burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home.
