Buel Alexander, 76

Buel Eugene Alexander passed from this life to the next on the morning of Monday, May 20, 2019 at his home with family by his side.

Born October 21, 1942, in Paducah, Kentucky, Buel was the first son of Buel Richard Alexander and Alice Marie Bradford Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, William Paul Alexander, who died in 1975 at age 10.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Smith Alexander; son, Bradford LeCroy Alexander; daughter-in-law, Ladona Stratton Alexander; daughter, Laura Alexander Sanborn; grandson, Bradford Elijah Alexander; granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Sanborn; step-granddaughter, Edie Brooke Little; sister, Phyllis Alexander Fristoe; brother, Wade Seaton Alexander (Laura); sisters-in-law, Karlyn Smith Crice (Robert), and Kathryn Smith Hagan (Lee). He also leaves behind his three beloved Maine Coon cats, Emmie Lou, Alex, and Eli.

Buel was a 1960 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, and a 1964 graduate of Murray State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He and Randy Warmath acquired Precision Machine, Inc. where Buel was President for nearly 30 years. Buel served on the Board of the Paducah Riverport Authority, the Board of the Yeiser Art Center, and the McCracken County Board of Adjustment.

Buel was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church where he and Nancy met in 1962. He taught Sunday school and served on the church Council. He participated in the very first Barbecue on the River and for many years thereafter. He enjoyed cooking barbecue and also prepared gourmet dishes for his family and friends. Buel was generous with his time and resources. He was a loyal friend and confidante to many.

After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, Buel and Nancy became participants in the local Parkinson’s Support Group where they made new friends who offered love, encouragement, and inspiration.

His Christian faith and his family were Buel’s priorities. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joys. He especially enjoyed time spent with family at his Livingston County farm and summer vacations in Orange Beach, Alabama. He was a man of great integrity whose word was his bond.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 1:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Reverend Joe Beal officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
