McCracken girls, Mayfield boys earn Region 1 team tennis titles

Three Marshall County doubles teams advanced to Monday’s Region 1 Tennis Quarter-finals held at the Larry Heflin Tennis Complex in Lone Oak. All three team’s tournament runs ended on Monday.

Parker Kerrick and Rush Robinson were defeated by Graves County’s Carrico and Ellegood (6-0, 6-0). Caleb Willie and Keifer Court were defeated by Paducah Tilghman’s LeBuhn and Ybarzabal (6-4, 6-7, 7-10 tiebreaker). Lindy King and Courtney Phillips were defeated by Mayfield’s Null and Null (6-2, 6-2).

On their way to Monday’s quarter-finals, King and Phillips defeated Criner and Gruber from Paducah Tilghman and Stuber and Pruitt from CCA. Kerrick and Robinson received an opening round bye, going on to defeat Smith and Guthrie of Mayfield to reach the quarter-finals. Also with an opening round bye, Willie and Court defeated Morgan and Luppe of Calloway County to move on to the quarter-final round.

Also playing in regionals for Marshall County in singles, Jameson Wells, Kian Court, Kayla Story and Maci Phillips. Phillips won her opening round game over Calloway County’s Kaitlyn Price.

Girl’s singles: Sophia Shiben (McCracken County) defeated Lili Smith (McCracken County) 6-0, 6-2
