MADD KY and State Farm Partner to Eliminate Drunk Driving

LOUISVILLE, KY (April 23, 2019) Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Kentucky is proud to announce a new $5,000 grant from State Farm Insurance.

The new $5,000 grant from State Farm will help MADD volunteers continue their important work with community awareness and education. This grant will also help MADD Kentucky staff continue to serve victims of drunk and drugged driving crashes.

“We value partners like State Farm who are working alongside us to prevent drunk and drugged driving and serve the thousands of victims who turn to MADD for strength and support at the lowest times of their lives,” said MADD National President Helen Witty. “As a mother whose 16-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk and drugged driver, I know first-hand the vital need for the services MADD provides to a victim every three minutes.”

Drunk driving kills almost 11,000 people every year. MADD provides free supportive services to drunk and drugged driving victims and is the leading voice in awareness and advocacy, urging everyone to designate a non-drinking driver if their plans include alcohol. Since MADD’s founding in 1980, drunk driving deaths have decreased by 50 percent, 380,000 lives have been saved, and nearly one million victims have been served.

As part of MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving, launched in 2006, MADD advocates for high-visibility law enforcement, ignition interlocks for all drunk driving offenders, development of advanced vehicle technology, and always taking personal responsibility by choosing a non-drinking driver to help reach our goal of No More Victims.
