Cretsinger signs with MacMurray College football program

Marshall County football player, Chet Cretsinger, signed Thursday to continue his football career at MacMurray College joined by his parents Larry and Oma Cretsinger.

Chet Cretsinger, a four-year member of the Marshall County High School football team, signed Thursday to continue his football and academic career at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. Chet was a major contributor on the offensive and defensive line during his high school career. A three-year starter on the offensive line and a two-way starter his junior and senior seasons.

He anchored a line that rushed for over 5,000 yards of offense and made 64 career tackles on defense. Chet’s play on the field gained him notoriety both locally and throughout the state. In 2017 he was named All-WKC Offensive Line and this past season, he was awarded First Team All-WKC honors for offensive line, Louisville Courier-Journal Honorable Mention All-State Team and the Paducah Sun All-Purchase Team as an offensive lineman. Chet was also recognized by the KHSAA as an Academic Honorable Mention All-State recipient.

Marshall County Head Coach Evan Merrick said he was proud for Chet saying, “He put together a nice career here at Marshall County and did it through hard work day in and day out. During his time with us he played all three spots in the offensive line and played both ways for a good part of it. He’s a versatile player that I think will excel at MacMurray. He’s deserving of this opportunity and I look forward to watching him play at the next level.”

Chet will play for Head Coach Chris Douglas who just finished his eighth season at the helm of the Highlanders football program. MacMurray College has gone 22-8 over the past three seasons under Douglas. MacMurray College is a Division III program, playing in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).
