Invitational of the South produces top early season results

Cade Flatt crosses the line in first for Marshall County in the boy’s 4 x 800 meter relay. Flatt also took first in the 800 meter race with a time of 1:57.21.

Paducah Tilghman girl’s and boy’s teams swept the titles at Saturday’s Marshall County Invitational of the South track meet held at Murray State University. Behind the Tilghman girl’s in the field of 26 teams, Jackson, Mo. took second, Owensboro third and Marshall County seventh. Jackson came in second to the Tilghman boys and Marshall County placed third among a field of 14 boy’s teams.

Top results for the Marshall County boy’s team, Cade Flatt won the 800 meters and anchored the first place 4 x 800 relay team. Eighth grader Ethan McCarty, finished first in the freshman 1600 meters and sixth in the 3200 meter race. Bryce Ladd finished third in the pole vault and another third went to Samuel Lanham in the freshman 1600 meter race.

Justin Wilson captured four top 10’s for the Marshals with a third place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles, seventh in the 300 meter high hurdles, sixth in long jump and seventh in triple jump. Mason Cosner recorded two top tens with a sixth in the 1600 meters and ninth place in the 3200 meters and Knox Sandlin crossed the line in 10th in the 3200 meters.

Tori Ford, running a leg in the 4 x 800 meter relay, finished second in the 400 meters Saturday at the Marshall County Invitational of the South.

Tori Ford finished second in the 400 meter race for the Lady Marshals for their best finish of the day and right behind her, Leah Vincek crossed in fourth. Sydney Temple placed fifth in pole vault, Jordyn Reed sixth in long jump, Natalie Norwood seventh in the freshman 1600 meter race, Abigail Oakley finished seventh in discuss and Alexia Minter crossed the line in eighth in the freshman 1600 meters.

Several elite performances were recorded at the meet starting with the continuing domination from the Winders family of Henry County, Tenn. Dinah Winders took first in the 1600 meters in 5:14.06 and brother Silas Winders crossed in first in the 1600 meters in 4:16.52. Joining them in Kentucky elite finishes Saturday:

Justin Wilson in the 110 meter high hurdles finished third for Marshall County. Wilson also took seventh in the 300 meter high hurdles and placed sixth in the long jump and seventh in triple jump to round out a successful meet on Saturday.
