Murray Police Department

On 03/07/2019, while conducting a security check of an apartment complex, Officer Davis of the Murray Police Department observed an individual in the parking lot that he recognized as having an active warrant for his arrest. The individual was identified as Sonny Russell, 44, of Benton. While speaking with Russell, Officer Davis learned he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Officer Davis also detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from Russell’s vehicle. As a result of the ensuing investigation, Russell was charged with: Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Methamphetamine); Possession of Marijuana; Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Drug Unspecified); Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Cocaine), Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (Drug Unspecified); Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rd Degree (Drug Unspecified); and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Russell was also served with the two outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear.
