Marshall County 15th at Kentucky NASP State Tournament

At the Kentucky NASP State Tournament this past weekend in Louisville, the Marshall County archery team placed 15th in the state out of 107 teams and also placed 15th in IBO 3D Challenge in a field of 34 teams. Marshall County finished with a team score of 3361 (172 tens) in the Tournament and 3361 (172 tens) in 3D Challenge.

The team from Madison Central took the state title with a score of 3449 (230 tens), second went to Bullitt Central with 3434 (223 tens) and third to Lincoln County with 3430 (224 tens). Bullitt Central took the state title in 3D Challenge with a score of 1728 (123 tens). Marshall County scored 1655 (89 tens).

Justin Luttrell from Casey County High School won the individual state title with a nearly perfect score of 298 (28 tens).

Senior Kendra Cannon led the Marshall County team with 288 (21 tens) to rank 21st out of 1,145 girls state high school archers. Canon ranked 5th out of 212 among seniors. Cameron Thomason recorded the second best score for Marshall County with 285 (17 tens) to rank 103rd out of 1,221. Thomason ranked 18th of 364 in his freshman age group.

Caleb Miller recorded the top score for Marshall County in 3D Challenge with his score of 289 (22 tens) to rank 10th out of 333 high school archers and 5th of 90 in his sophomore age group. Cameron Thomason had the second best score with 287 (18 tens) to rank 19th of 333 and 5th out of 109 freshman.

North Marshall Middle placed 42nd in a field of 107 in the middle school division with a score of 3117 (115 tens). North was led by Christian Jones with a score of 289 (21 tens) ranking 9th in a field of 1,338 while placing 4th among 474 seventh graders. Following Jones, Maci West finished with 287 (17 tens) to rank 10th among 1,183 and placing 4th in a field of 386 seventh grade girls.

In 3D Challenge, North Marshall placed 9th of 29 teams with 1612 (72 tens) led again by Christian Jones with 283 (15 tens) to rank 8th of 255 and 5th of 81 in the seventh grade level. Ashlyn Story recorded the second best score with 278 (16 tens) ranking 14th of 260 and 9th of 80 among seventh grade girls.

South Marshall Middle competed in the state tournament but are short in team members to score as a team. Their top score came from Gunner Boatright with 264 (5 tens) to rank 411 out of 1,338 and 179th of 472 eighth grade boys. Memphis Ford finished with a score of 260 (8 tens) and ranked 526th of 1,338 and 189th of 474 seventh grade boys.

In 3D Challenge, South Marshall was led by Sarah Miller with 261 (11 tens) to finish 75th of 260 and 32nd out of 90 eighth grade girls. Memphis Ford followed Miller with a score of 255 (5 tens) to rank 107th of 255 and 43rd of 81 seventh grade boys.

Marshall County’s Olive Homeschool Co-op team was led by fifth grader Levi Thompson with their top score of 270 (9 tens) which placed him 39th among 1,156 elementary archers in the boy’s division and 32nd among 690 fifth graders. The team placed 7th out of 36 elementary schools with 1469 (41 tens) in 3D Challenge led in scoring by Levi Thompson with 282 (19 tens) to rank 2nd out of 224 in the boy’s elementary division and 2nd among 139 fifth grade boys.
