Foley wins SMMS National Geographic GeoBee competition

For the 31st year, the National Geographic Bee is holding the National Geographic GeoBee for students in the 4th through 8th grades. Thousands of schools are competing in this year’s contest from all across the United States. Sixth grader, John Phillip Foley, won the school level Geo Bee held on January 22nd. He will now take a state qualifying test to determine if he moves on to the state level.

There will be approximately 100 of the top test scorers who will be eligible to take part in the State Bee. The winners of the State GeoBee will receive an all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. in May to take part in National Level Bee. They will compete for cash prizes, scholarships, and an all expenses paid trip to the Galapagos Islands aboard the National Geographic Endeavour II ship. You can learn more about this competition at
