Original story
The off-court saga continues for Zion Harmon, a 5-star recruit who already holds offers from numerous schools including Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Auburn to name a few. Harmon moved to Marshall County last summer and planned to play for the Marshals this season, but following months of uncertainty after being ruled ineligible to play for the 2018-2019 season by the KHSAA in August citing ByLaw 6 Transfer Rule, ultimately an appeal filed by Harmon’s father Dec. 6 was denied by Judge Thomas Russell in U.S. District Court in Paducah on Friday.

Sunday night, an announcement on Twitter was made by The Grind Session, a basketball showcase circuit, that Harmon would indeed be playing basketball on the court at Reed Conder Gymnasium in this weekend’s Big Baller Beatdown. Harmon will join Downey Christian, a private school team based out of Orlando, FL.

According to Larry Vaught of vaughtsview.com, Harmon will continue his education at Marshall County while playing on the weekends with Downey Christian at various showcase events.

Downey Christian is scheduled to play two games in this weekend’s Big Baller Beatdown, Saturday at 2:30 against Spire Academy, OH and Sunday at 3:00 against Aspire Academy, KY. He will join high-profile player Julian Newman on the Downey Christian team, a team the Marshals played on Jan. 5 in Mustang Madness at McCracken County High School. The Marshals lost to Downey Christian 76-68 but held Newman to 13 points, well below his average at the time of 33 points per game.

If all goes as planned, Harmon will take the court at 2:30 against Spire Academy’s LaMelo Ball, younger brother of Los Angeles Laker’s Lonzo Ball and son of media personality dad LaVar Ball, owner of the Big Baller Brand clothing and shoe line.
