Marshall County Veterans Day Parade Lineup and Ceremony

The Marshall County Veterans Support Group is pleased to announce the Veterans Day Parade lineup and the Marshall County Veterans Day Ceremony lineup. On Saturday, November 10, the Veterans Day Parade will marshal in the parking lot of Central Elementary School at 8:30 am. The parade starts at 9 am. This is the lineup parade viewers will see:

•American Legion Post 236 Color Guard and Bus.
•Parade Grand Marshal World War Two US Army Sergeant Ed O’Dell, at 100 years of age Sgt O’Dell is the oldest surviving Marshall Countian who served in World War Two.
•Marshall County Veterans Support Group transportation van.
•Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1084’s float, truck, and three golf carts.
•Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 585’s pickup and car.
•Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6291’s entry.
•Colonel Alfred Johnston Camp 276 Sons of Confederate Veterans’ entry.
•General Lloyd Tilghman Camp 1495 vehicle and float.
•Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1084’s motorcycle unit.
•Coye McCurry’s military jeep and any other military vehicles.
•Benton Fire Department’s fire truck.
•Disabled American Veterans and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary’s vehicle and float.

The Marshall County Veterans Support Group encourages and hopes to see parade attendees along the parade’s route on Vine Street, US Highway 68 heading west to the entrance to Mike Miller Park, and Mike Miller Park’s roadway to the Jerry English Veterans Memorial Plaza.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be conducted at the Jerry English Veterans Memorial Plaza starting at 11 am. The Ceremony lineup is:

•Master of Ceremony: Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Kentucky Junior Vice Commander Garry Smethers.
•Posting of the Colors by the American Legion Post 236 Color Guard.
•Opening Pray by Brother Tom Hiter.
•Pledge of Allegiance by Cub Scout Pack 2059.
•National Anthem by the Marshall County High School Choir.
•The Battle Hymn of the Republic by Shea Nickoll.
•Wreath Dedication by the Board of Realtors Lesley Gray.
•Keynote Speaker Kentucky Department of Homeland Security Director John Holiday who is a veteran of 25 years in the US Army’s Special Forces.
•Closing Prayer by the Assistant County Attorney Jason Darnall.
•Retiring of the Colors by the American Legion Post 236 Color Guard.
