McCarty takes second at middle school state cross country meet

Members of Marshall County’s Middle School cross country team competed in the KTCCCA Meet of Champions Saturday at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. North Marshall 8th grader, Ethan McCarty, took second in the 4,000 meter boy’s middle school state championship race in 13:34.35, just 14 seconds behind first place winner Caden Miracle from Page School Center. A huge field of 494 competed in the race.

In the middle school girl’s championship race, among a field of 411, North Marshall’s Elizabeth Barret placed 269th in 20:28.03. Ciara O’Shea of Madison Middle School to first in 14:30.49.

Competing in the boy’s 6th grade and under 3,000 meter race, Kobey Yates, a 5th grader at Sharpe Elementary, placed 34th in 11:44.47 in another massive field of 449 at the starting line. In the girl’s 6th and under race, South Marshall’s Addison Lyles placed 91st in 13:26.43 and Sharpe Elementary 5th grader Eden Sandlin placed 109th in 13:39.83 among a field of 410 runners.

In the 4th grade and under 2,000 meter race, Central Elementary student Austin Lyles placed 69th in 8:27.43  in another large field of 379.
