United Systems & Software, Inc. Expands Headquarters in Southwest One Industrial Park

The Marshall County Industrial Development Authority and the Marshall County Fiscal Court will welcome United Systems & Software, Inc. (United), as the first company to locate in the Southwest One Industrial Park in Benton, Kentucky. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority announced today that the company plans to invest approximately $5,300,000 to build a new facility, expand operations and develop new software aiding utilities and local governments in providing better efficiencies to their systems while creating 50 new good paying jobs.

“We have been steadily growing as a company and have expanded beyond capacity at our current location.  We are looking to grow even more as we expand nationally.  So, we began looking at various options,” said Scott Waldrop, President of United Systems & Software, Inc. “After discussing options with the local officials, we started looking at staying in Benton and in particular at the Southwest One site.  Upon visiting the site and discussing the benefits of this location, we felt that it fit well with our objectives and are excited to be the first business to locate at Southwest One. We’re looking forward to being the first of many businesses to locate and help expand economic opportunities in Marshall County.”

Marshall County Judge/Executive Kevin Neal said, “Marshall County is excited to announce United Systems & Software’s location in Southwest One Industrial Park. Their decision to expand in our community, invest in our new industrial park development and add additional good paying jobs speaks volumes to the commitment the company has to our future success as a community. This announcement also sends a clear message moving forward that we are open for business in Marshall County, Kentucky.”

“We are very excited at the news of United Systems & Software’s location in Southwest One Industrial Park,” said Mayor Rita Dotson of the City of Benton. “Their new facility will be a great addition to our community and the jobs created are a great boost to our local economy. Congratulations on your announcement!”

This announcement comes in conjunction with the acquisition of the 300 acre Southwest One Industrial Park by the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority with the assistance of the Marshall County Fiscal Court. Other partners include the Benton-Marshall County Industrial Development Authority, the Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization, the Purchase Area Regional Industrial Authority and the recently passed HB114 pertaining to the TVA In Lieu of Tax revenue. Earlier this year, the Benton-Marshall County Industrial Development Authority completed the development’s preliminary engineering with Bacon, Farmer, Workman. Kentucky Lake Economic Development plans to aggressively target market Southwest One Industrial Park to companies considering new or expanding locations.

Additionally, the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) is investing $307,000 to help Marshall County purchase the 300 acres that will be converted into Southwest One Industrial Park to house the business expansion. “DRA’s investment in Benton is one example of how our investments in Kentucky’s infrastructure will enhance business growth and job development in the commonwealth,” said DRA Chairman Chris Caldwell. “We are investing a total of $1.5 million to help create more than 200 new jobs in western Kentucky.”

Dennis Smith, Chairman of the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority, said, “What an honor it is to be working with and retaining a great company like United Systems & Software right here in Benton, Marshall County, Kentucky. The jobs being created by this company are an investment not only in United Systems & Software, but also in our city, county, state and the human capital we have right here at home.
