Cross country boys first, girls second in Owensboro

In the rain Saturday at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro, the Marshals took first and the Lady Marshals second in the Owensboro Invitational cross country meet.

Austin Stallings from Owensboro Catholic took first in 16:15.56 with the next three spots going to the Marshals. Mason Cosner placed second behind Stallings in 17:22.98, Ethan McCarty third in 17:24.53 and Christian Cosner fourth in 17:46.50. Also placing in the top 10 among a field of 109, Samuel Lanham took ninth in 18:12.14.

Also competing for the Marshals Saturday, Ethan Dowell 14th, Cole Wyatt 15th, Cade Flatt 27th, Knox Sandlin 28th, Isaiah Kirby 41st, Devan Bradley 52nd, Will Davis 56th, Justin Wilson 61st and Avery Minter 80th. The team from Apollo placed second.

Apollo’s Sammi Roberts won the girl’s varsity race with a time of 20:37.00 securing Apollo’s team win. The Lady Marshals took second behind two top 10 finishes by Alexia Minter fifth in 21:53.37 and Tarryn Story ninth in 22:39.09 in a field of 59.

Also for the Lady Marshals, Leah Vincek 14th, Kaycee Kamp 18th, Hannah Perry 20th, Zoie Swoope 22nd, Chloe Newton 33rd and Bella Barrett 33rd.

The teams are scheduled to compete Saturday, September 15th in the St. Mary/FCA meet at Noble Park.
