Ethan McCarty earns his first top finish

Marshall County’s middle school cross country teams started the day out at Christian County Saturday and it was finished off by the high school team at the Brooks Memphis XC Twilight.

Ethan McCarty earned his very first top finish at Christian County in the middle school race and Kobey Yates placed 19th and overall the team placed eighth. For the girls, Addison Lyles placed eightth to lead the team to a fifth place finish. All Marshall County middle school girls finished in the top 40 in a field of 77.

At Memphis, the boy’s placed 14th of 51 teams and the girl’s 27th of 43 teams among some very tough competition. Davis Bove from Centennial took first in 15:24.91 in a field of 442 runners. Mason Cosner had the best finish for the Marshals in 33rd with a time of 17:04.00. Christian Cosner took 44th in 17:12.50, Knox Sandlin, Knox 112th in 18:10.39, Cole Wyatt 126th in 18:17.32 and Jackson Miller 135th in 18:22.48 for the top five Marshall County finishers.

Henry County’s freshman Dinah Winders won the girl’s varsity race in 18:38.41. Marshall County’s top finisher was Gabbi Lovett crossing 116th in 22:12.92 in a field of 344. Alexia Minter placed 132nd in 22:26.18 and 171 Tarryn Story 171st in 23:10.94 for the top three Lady Marshal finishes.
