10am-4pm | Trades Fair
This Labor Day weekend, we celebrate the hard labor and hand work skills of our ancestors during our Trades Fair. At a time when few things were manufactured, people relied on their skills, or their neighbors, to produce everything from knitted socks to horseshoes. Visit with local historical trades and crafts people, as they share their skills and knowledge of this lost folk art. Hand crafted items will be available for purchase.

10am-3pm | Iron Scavenger Hunt
Grab your lists and get ready for a scavenger hunt! Iron production in the area between the rivers was at its boom in the 1850s. See how many iron items you can find!

Friday, September 7
1-3pm | Homeschool Feature: All hands On History in the Tool Barn
Come on back to the Tool Barn where you will be able to try your hand at several original tools used on farms just like this one in the 1850’s. Some you might recognize, others you might not.

1-3pm | Celebrating Grandparents
“Grandma tell me about when you were little!” Grandparents are the eyes to our past and hopefully knowledge for our future. Join us today at the Homeplace to celebrate and create a special moment with these very important people in our families.

Join us for a relaxed paddle as we explore the nooks and crannies of one of Lake Barkley’s scenic bays. $25 to rent a canoe. Cost does not include daytime NS admission. NS closes at 5pm. Registration limited. Call 270.924.2020 to reserve your space and for location information.

We’re not talking dinosaurs here. This weekend is devoted to the real-life raptors, birds of prey, that live in Land Between the Lakes! Join the Nature Station crew and some special guests as we learn about these magnificent creatures through presentations; activities, such as kids’ crafts, obstacle course, and games for both the young and the young-at-heart!

Have you ever wondered if a bobcat can outrun a coyote? Can hawks fly as fast as wolves run? Join us as we compare the strengths, speeds, and other abilities of a few of our native animals, and meet some of our live animals, too!

2:30-3pm | Awesome Opossum’s
Obstacle Course
What does it take to exercise an opossum? Our opossum likes to sleep a lot, so it’s important that she gets her exercise! Help the naturalists set up a fun scavenger hunt for her and then watch as we let her loose in it! Will she find the pieces of food you hid for her? Only time will tell!

Dive deep into the forest floor to find and amazing diversity and abundance of wildlife! Get up close and personal with some critters who call the life under leaves their home, like spiders, amphibians, reptiles, and a few mammals!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a…squirrel? How much do you know about our most common squirrel, the flying squirrel? Come meet our tiny high-flyer up close, and see if YOU could survive as a squirrel!
