Marshals shut out Tilghman 7-0 in season opener

Austin Stockdale, moving past Paducah Tilghman’s Jack Hutcheson, scored the Marshals first goal of the season just seconds into the game.

Senior Austin Stockdale gave the Marshals their first goal of the season just seconds into the game in their first game at Paducah Tilghman Monday. With a total of 25 shots in the game, 14 of those on goal, the game was in the hands of the Marshals from the opening whistle.

Bryson Penn opened the 2018 season with a hat trick, scoring three goals in the Marshals season-opener at Paducah Tilghman.

With 13 first half shots, seven on goal, the Marshals had some opportunities after the opening goal and found the net again at the 12:15 mark on a goal by senior Jackson Dodd, assisted by junior Chase Riley. The Marshals went up 3-0 three and a half minutes later on a goal by former Lyon County player Bryson Penn with an assist by Stockdale. The fourth goal of the first half came just over a minute later by Riley assisted by senior Daniel Gardner.

Junior Luke Eisha was in as goalkeeper for the Marshals in the first half with keeper duties going to Tyler Belcher in the second half.

The Marshals scored three goals in the second half, the first by Penn, his second of the game for a 5-0 lead, followed by a goal from senior Luke Edwards on an assist by sophomore Eric Hicks that made it 6-0 with the final goal by Penn for the hat trick with 13 minutes remaining.

Morgan Mayo in the goal for Paducah Tilghman had seven saves in the game and the Blue Tornados took a total of six shots.

The Marshals will play Tuesday at St. Mary in a double-header with the Lady Marshals, the girls first game of the season.
