Langhi named new head coach of the Lady Marshals

Dan Langhi talks to the press following the announcement of his new position as head coach of the Marshall County girl’s basketball team.

Marshall County High School Principal Patricia Greer introduced Dan Langhi as the new head coach of the Lady Marshals Thursday in a 3:00 press conference at the high school.

Langhi, a 1996 graduate of Marshall County High School, played at Vanderbilt University where he was co-SEC Player of the Year. He is a former NBA player and played professional for several years overseas.

Langhi has been an assistant coach for the past three years as well a head volleyball coach.

“Year after year, people are asking me…do I want to be a head coach in basketball”, Langhi said. “For so long I needed a break and I think now I’m ready. In the situation we’ve been in here at the high school, the coaching changes, I just felt like it’s time for me to step up and be a head coach. That’s the reason I applied and I was fortunate to get the job and hopefully with me knowing these girls it will be a smooth transition.”

Langhi will continue to be a part of the volleyball program with the season approaching and will reassess that at a later time.

Langhi is excited with the effort the girls have shown already with early morning workouts and their good attitude.

“I’m excited and I believe our best years are ahead of us”, Langhi said. “We’re going to work hard, we’ll have our differences, but at the end of the day we’re going to be together and be like a family.”
