Advance Warning Flasher Installation at US 641/KY 402 Intersection near Hardin in Marshall County This Week

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 Traffic Group is installing an AWF- Advance Warning Flasher at the US 641/KY 402 intersection in Southern Marshall County between Benton and Murray THIS WEEK.

The AWF provides motorists with an advanced indicator that a traffic signal is preparing to change from green to red phase. This helps motorists to start slowing before they reach an intersection. The AWF is being installed in response to complaints about motorists on US 641 running the red light at the KY 408 intersection just west of the Hardin Community.

The AWF at the US 641/KY 402 intersection near Harding will be similar to the system installed at the intersection of US 60 and US 62 in McCracken County near the west end of the US 60 Tennessee River Bridge.

The US 641/KY 402 intersetion is at US 641 Marshall County milepoint 1.22 and KY 402 milepoint 8.076 just west of the Hardin Community.

Approximately 11,400 vehicles travel through this intersection in an average day.

This week motorists should be alert for a signal crew and their equipment is working in and around the US 641/KY 402 intersection to install signage and electrical connections required for the AWF. Motorist should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and other personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

The AWF- Advance Warning Flasher system should be fully installed and operational by the end of this week, weather permitting. See More
