State Rep. Kenny Imes Appointed to Fill Vacancy on Legislative Research Commission

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 13, 2018) – State Rep. Kenny Imes, R-Murray, has been elected to fill a vacancy on the Legislative Research Commission, which is the 16-member body that consists of Democratic and Republican leaders from the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate.

“Rep. Imes is an incredibly valuable member of the House Majority Caucus whose service to Kentucky has spanned nearly two decades,” said Kentucky House Speaker Pro Tem David Osborne. “His wide range of experience in the Legislature will serve the LRC well, and ensure effective leadership of a vital support system for all legislators.”

The LRC was established in 1948 as a fact-finding and service body for the Legislature and is administered by a full-time LRC director who presides over a highly-trained staff of researchers, fiscal analysts, attorneys, computer operators, librarians, secretaries, and others who provide expert services to legislators.

“I am honored to have been asked by the Republican leaders in the House to serve as a member of the Legislative Research Commission,” said Rep. Imes. “The LRC is actually the Board of Directors of the Legislature, with responsibility for 400 employees and a budget of $19.8 million. My selection for this post represents the first time in many years that someone from the Purchase Area has served on the LRC and presents a unique opportunity for me to put my legislative and business experience to work for all the people of Kentucky.”

Among his legislative duties, Rep. Imes also serves as Chairman of the House Elections, Constitutional Amendments & Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Vice Chair of the House State Government Committee, and also serves as a member of the House Transportation and the Local Government Committees. Additionally, he serves on the Budget Review Subcommittees on General Governments, and Transportation.

Rep. Imes assumes his new role on the LRC following election by remaining members of the LRC. He will hold the LRC office for the unexpired term of his predecessor, which runs through the end of 2018.
