Overnight Detour for Eastbound I-24 Traffic in I-24/Purchase Pkwy Exit 25 Work Zone

A contractor plans an overnight detour for EASTBOUND traffic in the I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 Interchange Work Zone TONIGHT, Tuesday Night, and possibly Wednesday night.

The night detour is expected to be in place from approximately 9:00 p.m., CDT, to about 6:00 a.m., the following morning to allow removal of temporary barrier walls along the eastbound lanes through the work zone.

To facilitate the work, eastbound I-24 traffic will be detoured temporarily via the Purchase Parkway NORTHBOUND lanes to US 62 EASTBOUND to return to I-24 via the US 62 Exit 27 Calvert City Interchange.

This work to remove the temporary barrier wall along the eastbound lanes through the work zone may have to continue into Wednesday night. KYTC and the contractor will attempt to provide timely updates as the work progresses.

Again, this overnight detour will be in place from approximately 9:00 p.m., CDT, and 6:00 a.m., TONIGHT, Tuesday Night, and possibly Wednesday night, if required.

As a reminder, this continues to be an active work zone during daylight hours. The contractor has ongoing ramp work, as well as landscaping and final asphalt paving planned along the project area.

Motorists who plan to travel eastbound through the I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 Interchange Work Zone tonight and Tuesday night should be aware of this overnight detour and use appropriate caution. Some overnight delays are possible while the temporary detour is in place. Local motorists should be aware that this rerouting I-24 eastbound traffic will create heavy eastbound traffic along US 62 at Calvert City between the Purchase Parkway and the Exit 27 Interchange.

The I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 work zone runs along I-24 in Marshall County between the 25 and 27 mile marker and along the Purchase Parkway between the 49 and 52 mile marker at the I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 Interchange. Reconstruction of the Exit 25 interchange is aimed at allowing I-69 to be extended southward along the
parkway in the future.

As a reminder, this work zone includes a 55 mile per hour speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence and double fines for citations.
