Against perennial powerhouse teams from across several states, the Marshall County boy’s track team held their own and finished third in the Swift and Staley Midwest Two-Day Challenge held Friday at McCracken County and Saturday at Paducah Tilghman. The third place finish marked the team’s first loss of the season. Jefferson City, MO took first in the meet and East St. Louis, MO second.
Highlights from the meet included Cade Flatt’s new school record in the 800 meters set on the track at Tilghman, breaking a 30-year-old record in 1:56.11. Zach Fiser’s second place in the discus with a distance of 144-07 moved him into second all-time in program history and in all, 15 new personal records were set.
Four from the girls team competed in the meet. Tori McCracken placed second in the high jump in 5-00, Presleigh Jenning 11th in high jump in 4-06, Audrey Grizzard second in pole vault with 9-06 and Sydney Temple third in pole vault with 9-00.
Marshall County will host a Quad Meet today then the team will compete in the Area I Championships on Saturday at Fort Campbell.
