The second meeting of the regular season between the #14 Lady Marshals and #6 Lady Mustangs was much different from the first for Marshall County who came up with four hits through seven innings in the 6-0 loss and held the McCracken County hitters to five hits, a far cry from the 16 hits the Lady Marshals allowed on April 19th in their four-inning 15-0 loss.
Facing Lakyn Largent for the second time, Marshall County hits came from Presley Jezik with two and one each from Gracey Murt and Layne Pea. Pea had the only hit off of Largent in their first meeting at McCracken County. Largent pitched all seven innings in the win and struck out seven.
Aubree Jo Kemp held the Lady Mustang batters to five hits and struck out seven in her seven innings on the mound.
McCracken County jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, scoring on an error and RBI ground out by Lexi Carter and added one run in the third on a triple by Loren Shelton. Two runs in the fifth on an error and RBI ground out by Carter made it a 5-0 game with their final run in the sixth inning on a ground out by Ashby Murt.
Pea singled in the second, Jezik in the fifth and Murt led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. A ground out by Addie Young moved Murt to second and Cayson Conner was hit by a pitch to put two runners on for the Lady Marshals. Jezik’s second hit of the game loaded the bases with one out but all three were left stranded as Largent finished off the game for the Lady Mustangs with a strike out and ground out.
