Marshals beat Owensboro, Grayson County in Hopkinsville

The Marshals picked up two wins Saturday in Hopkinsville at the Town and County Classic. In a 5-0 win over Owensboro, all five runs came in the sixth inning. Tyler Belcher had a double, a single by Dawson Smothers and four singles from Austin Stockdale rounded out the six hits by the Marshals.

Cole Griggs, Dalton Andersson, Belcher and Stockdale all with an RBI a piece. Riley Harris earned the win on the mound in seven innings, allowing three hits and no runs while striking out four. Owensboro utilized three pitchers with the loss going to Derek Hall in five innings, allowing three hits and one run.

They followed the win over Owensboro up with an 18-2 win over Grayson County on 13 hits. Three runs in the first inning and two in the second gave the Marshals a 5-2 lead before a big 13-run sixth inning that closed the door on the win.

Jackson Beal, Ty Buchmeier, Smothers and Stockdale all hit doubles. Buchmeier recorded three RBI’s, two for CJ Johnson and Byron Nanney and an RBI each from Griggs, Jordan Riley, Stockdale, Harris, Beal and Skyler Brown.

Brock Anderson earned the win in five innings, allowing three hits, two runs and struck out two. The loss went to Alex Scott in four innings on the mound, allowing three hits and five runs.

The Marshals improve to 10-6 on the season and will play McCracken County (14-6) at home Tuesday at 5:00.
