Three arrested after Sunday chase

Two men and a woman were arrested Sunday after a late night chase though two counties.

On Sunday, April 15, Officer Steve Robinson observed a vehicle on Poplar Street matching one reported as being stolen or operated by an unauthorized user.  Officer Robinson activated his lights to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on West 5th Street near the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. According to reports, the vehicle accelerated and a pursuit began.

The pursuit lasted approximately 30 minutes and alternated between Marshall and Graves counties. The fleeing vehicle was eventually stopped by a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

Samuel J. Brackett, of Benton, was the driver of the vehicle. He was charged by Officer Robinson with the following: speeding greater than 26 mph, fleeing and evading police 1st degree- motor vehicle, driving DUI suspended license- second offense with aggravated circumstances, wanton endangerment first degree- police officer, wanton endangerment first degree, reckless driving, and disregarding a stop sign.

Kenneth Bean, Shelbie Vibbert, and a 2-year old child were also inside the vehicle. Both Mr. Bean and Mrs. Vibbert were arrested by other agencies. All three were taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police assisted in the pursuit.
