Off to a 2-0 start in the Lady Marshals Slugfest, the girls picked up wins Friday 3-2 over Daviess County and 12-1 over Paducah Tilghman. They will play two games on Saturday at 2:00 against Goreville and take on Union at 4:00.
The Lady Marshals defeated #13 Daviess County in the first game on Friday. They took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a 2-run single by Gracey Murt, then added another run in the fifth on a single by Addie Young, holding onto the 3-0 lead until the top of the seventh inning.
With two outs, Daviess County scored two runs on a Emma Young single and Kelsey Whistle single, leaving two base runners stranded with the final out.

Marshall County followed the win over Daviess County with a 12-1 win over Tilghman. The Lady Marshals scored three runs in the second inning on a wild pitch, single by Zoie Swoope and bunt by Charley Pursley. They added three more runs in the fourth inning on a single by McKenzie Elkins, single by Pursley and sacrifice hit by Layne Pea.
Two runs scored in the fifth on a single by Cayson Conner and an error and their 4-run sixth inning came on Young’s single and a big 3-run double by Riley Piercefield for the 12-1 win on 16 hits.
Shelby Wadkins pitched six innings for the win, allowing five hits, one run and striking out two.
