The old U.S. Hwy. 68/Ky. 80 Bridge falls into water below as explosives are detonated.
The new U.S. Hwy. 68/Ky. 80 Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton has reopened to traffic following demolition of the old bridge Wednesday morning.
Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet notified area media of the reopening before 9 a.m. Wednesday. The road was closed before demolition and for a short time after to allow crews to clean up debris.
Dozens of observers watched the detonation from Canton and Land Between the Lakes, or by boat.
