The Graves County High School career and technical education programs (agriculture, business, family and consumer science, media and technical education) sold some 500 grilled chicken dinners in the community Thursday, Feb. 15. They raised funds to benefit victims of the recent shooting at Marshall County High School.

Graves County High School agriculture teacher Richard Horn was a leader in the school’s Thursday, Feb. 15, community-wide fundraiser. The career and technical education students and staff prepared, sold, and – in some cases – delivered 500 grilled chicken dinners at $10 each throughout Graves County. That night, students
presented a check for $5,000 to Marshall County High School to benefit victims of the recent shooting there.

“Pilgrim’s Pride donated the chicken and Crop Production Services of Sedalia sponsored the supplies and the sides,” Horn said said. “Numerous community members helped with the cooking of the chicken and preparation of meals… Audrey Allen, Kent Parm, and the Guthrie Brothers, to name a few. There were several others, too. From the sales of the meals, donations from individuals, and the Graves County FFA, the students raised $5,600. I am extremely proud of our students and the community. We are truly blessed.”

Representatives of those Graves High organizations present a check here for $5,000 at halftime of the same evening’s Graves at Marshall boys basketball game. All proceeds go the #MARSHALLSTRONG fund at CFSB.

The check was presented at halftime of the Marshall County – Graves County basketball game on Thursday.
