Postponed due to the weather conditions last week, the 1st Region All ‘A’ Classic at Mayfield was forced to squeeze in games starting Friday and ending with the championship games tonight before the All ‘A’ State Tournament begins in Richmond on Wednesday.
Tonight’s championship games begin at 6:00 with tournament favorite Murray High girls taking on Ballard Memorial and the boy’s from Ballard Memorial will play Mayfield.
Christian Fellowship played on Friday in their opening game of the tournament, picking up a 59-34 win over Fulton City, advancing to play tournament favorite Mayfield on Saturday. Mayfield defeated the Eagles 76-20 and went on to beat Fulton County 75-55 on Sunday to advance to tonight’s championship game.
Jesse Covey led the Eagles with 14 points and Elijah Toth with 12 in their win over Fulton City. Covey scored eight points to lead CFS in scoring in their loss to Mayfield.
CFS played again Saturday evening in their regular scheduled game against Heritage Academy. Behind 15 points by Brice Etheridge and 14 from Nathaniel Hummel, the Eagles won 68-46 picking up their sixth win of the season.
The Eagles play Egyptian, IL at home on Tuesday and travel to Carroll Academy on Thursday.
