Members of the Benton Woman’s Club are putting the finishing touches on one of the group’s most anticipated annual events.

The fourth annual Puttin’ on the Mitz will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Kentucky Dam State Resort Park Convention Center in Gilbertsville. This year’s theme is “The Great Gatsby” Roaring 20s, and participants are encouraged their best “Flapper and Dapper” attire. The event serves as a fairly successful fundraiser for the Marshall County Exceptional Center. Event committee co-chair and BWC Past President Tassie Gossum said the 2017 event brought in about $14,000 for MCEC.

“Our goal is to raise as much money as we can for MCEC while having a fabulous time,” Gossum said. “It’s a nice opportunity for adults to get dolled up and raise lots of money for a great organization.”

This year’s event will kick off with a social hour, complete with entertainment provided by the Marshall County High School Jazz Band, followed by appetizers and dinner, courtesy of area businesses, Gossum said. The evening will conclude with dancing and music, courtesy of DJ Derek Doss.

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in raffle drawings, Gossum said, including one for a crawfish boil. The winner will receive a crawfish boil for up to eight people at the winner’s home in April, during the heart of crawfish season.

BWC will host a live auction during the course of the night, as well. Items up for grabs this year include a baseball autographed by Major League athlete Bryce Harper, baseball by former St. Louis Cardinals’ shortstop Ozzie Smith, football signed by Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph and PGA Championship golf tickets, as well as spa packages and boutique gift certificates.

BWC is accepting auction item donations. Those interested in contributing should contact Amy Mason at 270-366-3927. Crawfish boil tickets are available through any BWC member or by emailing bentonwomansclub@gmail.com.

Tickets for the annual Puttin’ on the Mitz can be purchased through Feb. 1 and are $50 apiece or $350 for a table of eight. Corporate sponsorships are also available. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Darla Doss at 270-994-6797 or online at www.bentonwomansclub.org.
