Sheriff’s deputies respond to 383 calls for service

Marshall County Sheriff’s report, Dec. 11, 2017:

Deputy Chris Greenfield at 6:40 p.m. Dec. 8 served an arrest warrant from Marshall District Court for Contempt of Court. Michelle D. Cedar of Benton was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Deputy Barry Howell on Dec. 8 served two arrest warrants on Hope M. Johnson of Calvert City. Johnson turned herself in on two failure to appear warrants.

Deputy Chris Greenfield on Dec. 8 received information that a man living in Calvert City and working at a business in Draffenville was wanted. He investigated and discovered that Terry Lee Rudd, 39, of Calvert City was wanted in Missouri and in Illinois. Rudd was picked up without incident at his Draffenville employer. The charge in Missouri was probation violation and in Illinois, failure to appear on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Rudd was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center to await extradition proceedings. Greenfield was assisted by Deputy Luke Rudd.

Sgt. Jason Lane on Dec. 8 served two bench warrants on John Michael Hega of Benton. The bench warrants were for Failure to Appear in Marshall District Court. Lane was assisted by Sheriff Kevin Byars.

Deputy Luke Rudd was dispatched on Dec. 8 to McCoy Lane in reference to a reported violation of a Kentucky EPO / DVO. Deputies located the pperson and after an investigation, it was clear that he was at a location forbidden by the order. Trevor W. Fowler, 25, of Gilbertsville was charged with violation of Kentucky EPO / DVO and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Rudd was assisted by Sgt. Jason Lane and Deputy Chris Greenfield.

Deputy Chris Greenfield at 3:53 p.m. Dec. 9, observed a vehicle parked in Spencer Starks Cemetery. Deputy Greenfield, knowing that the Sheriff’s Office has had complaints of drug use at this location, conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Karen Faye Lane. As a result of the ensuing investigation, Greenfield arrested the driver, Mark Paul Sopcak of Hardin. Sopcak was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under Influence ALC/ Drugs/ Etc .08 3rd Offense, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle, and Driving On DUI Suspended License. Deputy Luke Rudd also arrested the passenger, Kenneth Dean of Hardin who was served an arrest warrant on a Kentucky State Police case charging him with Failure to Comply W/Sex Offender Registration 1st Offense.
