Benton man found allegedly intoxicated, asleep behind wheel of running car

A Benton man is facing charges after police say they found him allegedly intoxicated behind the wheel.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, about 9:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, deputies responded to U.S. Highway 68 E in reference to a man passed out in his vehicle. Deputies on arrival found Paul S. Kissiar, 31, of Benton, allegedly asleep behind the wheel of his running vehicle. Police say Kissiar had his foot on the gas, though the vehicle was in park, with the car running at a high RPM. Police allege Kissiar was intoxicated at the time.

Kissiar was arrested and charged on suspicion of public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol); possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substance not in a proper container, first offense; third-degree possession of a controlled substance; no registration plates; no registration receipt; and license to be in possession.

He was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
