Marshals win, Lady Marshals second in match at Calvert City

Inclement weather cancelled the boys and girls golf matches at Mayfield Country Club on Tuesday so they teed it up  in competition for the first time this week Thursday at Calvert City Country Club. The boy’s team won their match over Calloway County and Ballard Memorial while McCracken County girls took the win over the girl’s team.

Led by co-medalist Jay Nimmo with a nine-hole round of 39, the Marshals beat Calloway County by two strokes with a team score of 170. Scoring for the Marshals – Nathan Clark shot 41, Tyler Powell 42, Drake Butler 48 and Camdyn McLeod 49. Playing as individuals – Teddy Wynn shot 46, Nick Dowdy 49 and Ben Staples 57

For Calloway County, Tanner Hicks shot 39 for co-medalist honors with Nimmo. Also scoring for the Lakers – Ty Gallimore 41, Jonathan Kuykendall 46, Daniel Bowden 46 and Clayton Bobo 49.

Ballard Memorial was led by Austin Dowdy with 44 on their way to a team score of 197. Brady Cox shot 48, Coy Cox 51, Matt Grogan 54 and Mason Woods 54.

The girl’s team lost by two strokes to McCracken County, winning the match with a team score of 166. Medalist honors went to McCracken’s Jessica Stephens with a 2-over par 38 followed by a 41 from Allison Hane, Carley Beatty shot 43, Adeline Edwards 44 and Caitlin Herndon 50.

Savannah Howell and Megan Herrter each shot 41 to lead Marshall County, Hallie Riley shot 42 and Kennadi Spraggs and Sydney Phillips both shot 44. Playing as individuals, Kenley Luksic shot 43 and Laney Hoskins 60.

Ballard Memorial had no team score but three players that played as individuals were Meghan Walker with 47, Autumn Dowdy 54 and Kaylee Cox 63.

Saturday, the boys will play at Breckinridge Golf Course in the Union County Invitational while the girls will be at Heritage Hill Country Club in Louisville to play in the Bluegrass Invitational.
