Occupational Medicine at Murray-Calloway County Hospital welcomed Lyn Ryan, APRN, to its department.

Ryan has worked in various roles in her nursing career at Murray-Calloway County Hospital since 1982. She began her nursing career as a registered nurse in labor and delivery for over eight years and then took on the role as a nurse recruiter and educator. She transitioned back to pre-anesthesia after 14 years until she went back to school to obtain her APRN licensure.

Ryan completed her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (APRN) from Western Kentucky University in 2009. In her most current role, she has worked as a Nurse Practitioner for Murray Medical Associates and in Hospice. She will continue to work in these departments as well as take on new responsibilities as the occupational medicine nurse practitioner.

“I really enjoy the interaction with patients and their family and hope I can make their day a little better,” said Ryan.

She will continue to care for patients throughout our community at Murray Medical Associates by managing acute and chronic conditions and emphasize health promotion and disease prevention.
As an occupational nurse practitioner she does pre-employment physicals and evaluates and treats work related injuries and illnesses to help ensure that workers get the care they need and are ready to return to work as quickly as possible. The service assesses employee’s safe work capacity based on history and examination.

Ryan and her husband Mike, of 40 years, live in Murray. They have three sons, Mitch, Tony and Greg, and have five grandchildren. When she’s not working, Lyn enjoys spending time with her family, boating on the lake, and gardening.
